How do you allow someone to scale an image up on a canvas??

Sean Horgan

So I am working on a product that is a flat rectangular and plain. Customers can upload a photograph to it, and it is printed on the surface. I was able to create an image uploader that allows someone visiting our site to add their own photos to the product, but whenever I test it out and upload a test photo I have in my files, it's always zoomed in too far on the product.

Is there any way to add some kind of interface that can allow customers to uniformly scale up and position them so that they can frame their photographs the way they want to???

I followed these instructions (https://community.threekit.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405866567963-Personalization-Image-Upload) to create a canvas for my product, but it has no information about how so frame/scale the actual image.

Hey Sean, You should be able to scale the image with the U and V values if you change the scale mode to scale on your texture asset. Let me know if that helps.

    Yeah, I know about that.
But I have it set up where my product is linked to a metal material. And that metal material is linked to the texture of a photograph. So the actual product file is not directly linked to the texture. Instead, the texture is linked to the material file which Is linked to the actual product file. I did this to combine the metal texture with the photograph texture (to give it a metallic feel).

How do I scale a texture that is linked to another file?

I want the customer to be able to scale and move their image (the actual texture) onto a metallic material, without influencing the metal texture.

I'm not sure I understand what's different, from the standard way sorry. Would it be possible for me to take a look at your org? If you enable support access and link it here I can take a look.

No worries, we will definitely take a look! If you open your org and go to Settings -> Features, at the bottom there is an option to allow support access.

Once that is done you can you email a link to the asset to idrews@threekit.com & wthompson@threekit.com or post it here and we will get into it!
