# Editor Layout Modes

There are two modes in the Threekit Editor, the default [Layout Mode](/platform-documentation/project-data/assets/asset-editor/editor-layout-modes/layout-editor.md), and [Logic Mode](/platform-documentation/project-data/assets/asset-editor/editor-layout-modes/logic-editor.md).<br>

**Layout Mode**

The default Layout Mode is where artists refine and stage assets. This is the default mode of the editor and can be accessed by creating and saving a new asset manually:<br>

or by entering the editor directly via the asset record from the asset listing:<br>

**Logic Mode**

For configurable Catalog Items, Attributes and Rules are created within Logic Mode. Using the Item Attributes as the source, the Artist ensures the Asset is modified appropriately by mapping Item Attributes to Visual Attributes and creating Visual Rules to manipulate the Asset.&#x20;
